~75 Years of Service~

Cochran Memorial Hospital's 1 year anniversary photo August 1948 (known as West Plains Hospital in 1948)

Cochran Memorial Hospital's roots date back to 1946 when a group of Cochran County citizens, concerned about the lack of a hospital in the county, formed the West Plains Health Association, selling stocks at $50.00 a share to Cochran County citizens. Construction of the eighteen bed facility began in April 1946 in the 200 block of East Grant in Morton and the official opening was scheduled for August 7, 1947.
